Martin Stanley Taylor 

Born:24 Jul 1874 Newberry, York, Pennsylvania, USA

Died: ???


Let me tell you about my second great-grandfather, Martin Stanley Taylor. He's my brick wall. 


Martin was born and raised in Newberry, York County. He married my second great-grandmother, Minnie Jane Free, in October 1893. In 1895 Minnie gave birth to their only child, a daughter, my great-grandmother, Lillian Mae Taylor Gross. 


By 1917 Martin had left his wife and daughter and moved to Ohio. In the 1920s, he popped up in records stating that he resided in Casa Grande, Arizona. 


 In 1930, back in Ohio, at the age of fifty-five, Martin married Anna Catherine Wendel. I'd like to note that Anna was two years younger than Martin's daughter, Lillian. 


Shortly after marrying, Martin and Anna, resided together in Phoenix, Arizona. They lived there together until Anna died in 1947. Her body was flown to Ohio to be buried in her family plot. Her obituary lists Martin as surviving her and as a local Real Estateman. 


Searching Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, Newspapers.com, and Findagrave.com have yielded no hints to his life after his second wife's death. I also have not been able to track down a date of death or where he is buried. 


Where is he???

    So in 1947 he would be 70. Perhaps write to Arizona to look for death record? We were always told my grandfather went to Canada. Turns out Toronto, Ohio and buried in unmarked grave.

  Week 6: The theme for Week 6 is “Surprise.” What ancestor dealt with a surprising thing in their life? Any stories of surprise birthday parties? Dora Elizabeth Casini DeJoesph  Born: 16 Feb 1930 Hersey, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA Died: 21 Oct 2014 Texas Dora Elizabeth Casini Coleman DeJoseph was my paternal grandmother's sister. My great aunt Dora was a chain smoker. Growing up, the only time I remember seeing her without a cigarette was when she was crocheting Afghan blankets. She lived in Oregon and would fly to Pennsylvania for family visits. She couldn't smoke on the plane, so she'd crochet to occupy her hands. She couldn't smoke inside of our house when she visited, so she crocheted. She could whip up a blanket in record time!
