52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks: Week 22

Week 22:

The theme for Week 22 is “Reunion.” Whether it’s a family reunion, a class reunion, or some other commonality that brings people back together, it’s an opportunity for connection and context. What reunions can you think about in your family tree?

Yinger family reunions! Every year we'd gather in Lisburn for the annual Yinger family reunion.

Hazel Irene Yinger

Born: 16 January 1917 Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

Died: 27 March 1995 Pennsylvania, USA

My great-grandmother, Hazel Irene Yinger, was married to my great-grandfather, Elwood David "Bud" Erney. I don't remember Hazel as I was only an infant when she died. I grew up being able to meet and know my Yinger relatives through the family reunions that we would have in Lisburn.

Hazel's father was-

Frank Smaling Yinger
Born: 17 April 1894 Fairview Twp, York Co, Pennsylvania, USA

Died: 22 March 1958 Fairview, York, Pennsylvania, USA

Hazel's mother was-

Katie Rebecca Miller

Born: 6 January 1895 Newberry Township, Pennsylvania

Died: 13 February 1977 Camp Hill, Cumberland, Pennsylvania, USA

Hazel's siblings were-

Pearl Elizabeth Yinger Rehm 1912–1994
Ruth Etta Yinger 1913–1914
Ethel G Yinger 1915–1986
Frank Smaling Yinger Jr 1918–1991
Richard Eugene Yinger 1920–2005
Dale R Yinger 1926–2003
Arthur Leroy Yinger 1935–1935

Why were the family reunions in Lisburn when my great-grandmother lived in Newberry and her parents were from Fairview and Newberry?

Over the years, various Yingers have lived in Lisburn. Hazel's brother, Dale lived in Lisburn and owned the garage there- Yinger's Automotive Service and Yinger's Cub Cadet Sales and Services. Frank Jr also lived in Lisburn at the same time.

Frank Sr sadly died in Lisburn after trying to help a motorist who was stuck in a gutter after a storm.
